Healing water
Aquatic Bodywork
Imagine floating in warm water in safe and nurturing arms; being rocked, waved, stretched, massaged and danced by your practitioner. The gentle embrace of fluid movement and buoyant support creates a sanctuary for profound relaxation and rejuvenation.
Drawing from my extensive studies in Watsu, Water Dance, and Healing Dance in Water, my Aquatic Bodywork sessions offer a unique blend of therapeutic techniques performed in warm water, guiding you into a state of deep release and renewal.
Immerse yourself in the nurturing embrace of the water as I guide you through gentle stretches, flowing movements, and subtle manipulations, all tailored to your individual needs. Experience the weightlessness of being buoyed by the water, allowing tension to melt away and stress to dissolve.
Whether you seek relief from chronic pain, a reprieve from stress and anxiety, or simply a blissful escape from the demands of everyday life, Aquatic Bodywork offers a sanctuary for holistic healing and profound transformation.
Embark on a journey of self-discovery and renewal as you surrender to the healing power of water.
WATSU® is the world’s first form of Aquatic Bodywork. Like massage, it can be applied professionally or shared with family and friends. Warm water, unconditional holding and treating the body as a whole, create space safe enough for the one in our arms to access every level of their being. Adapting WATSU® therapy’s established form to each, and Free Flow, engages our whole being.
Harold Dull started WATSU® in 1980 at Harbin Hot Springs in California where he taught the Zen Shiatsu that he had studied with its creator, Shizuto Masanaga, in Japan. In Zen Shiatsu stretching someone unblocks and balances the energy flowing through their body more than Shiatsu’s traditional work on points. Harold found warm water to be the ideal medium for this. He also found that the holding required to float someone takes them to a level of healing beyond that of touch. The same year Harold brought WATSU® therapy’s unconditional holding, back onto land in TANTSU® In WATSU® and TANTSU®, while being stretched, someone’s whole body is so contained, they find it safe to access every level.
Healing Dance is a powerful and beautiful technique developed in 1993 by Alexander George, incorporating elements of WATSU, WATA, Trager work, and dance. Its primary foundation is hydrodynamic wave movements for the whole body. In addition, it includes still embraces, letting-go movements, tractions, gentle transitions, and massages — all woven together in an endless flow. The core idea of this work is that movement is “medicine,” and that through the experience of “received dance,” the body’s natural healing process can be activated.
